President’s Message – September 2020

President’s Message – September 2020

Greetings RIMS Washington Chapter Members!
I hope you are well and staying safe. I am excited to be the 2020-2021 Chapter President! Our mission is to continue to advance the risk management profession and member participation through fellowship, education and community service.
I want to thank you for your continued commitment to RIMS. If you have any ideas on how the RIMS Washington Chapter can further your risk management educational, networking needs or are interested in volunteering your time in any way, please contact me here.
Chapter Meetings
Chapter leadership met virtually in August to plan for our next fiscal term that runs through June 30, 2021. We determined it is best to proceed with virtual programming. Of course, if the health environment changes, we would be excited to meet in person. We are happy to announce that we will also continue to offer free, virtual events through June 30, 2021.
Our kickoff event is next week on Sept. 15th Economic Update – PNW Impact – Future Forward. To register for the event, please click here. We are working on finalizing programming through the rest of 2020 and beyond. Have an idea? Be sure to submit a speaker submission? Keep an eye out for future educational and networking events!

I would also like to introduce you to the 2020-2021 Board Members! Without their hard work and dedication, none of what we do would be possible. A special shout out to our Past Presidents, Vianney Muse and Sara Kern for their amazing leadership the past two years.

Closing
RIMS offers COVID-19 resources to support you and your organizations, which can be found here. Additionally, there are conversations on Opis that may offer insights on various risk management topics that can be found here.
In closing, I would be remiss to not acknowledge the social injustices that continue throughout the world. As a community, it is important to reflect and seek solutions to be better and influence change. Voting is a way to use your voice to bring about change at the local, state and federal levels. I would encourage everyone to make sure you are a registered voter and vote early. For more information, visit vote.org.
2020 has presented challenges and opportunities, both personally and professionally. We’re all in this together. We look forward to engaging and interacting with you in a different way than we have before. Enhancing our educational and networking virtual engagements is a priority. We look forward to seeing you at future events!
